About the formats
About PNG
PNG compresses without discarding any detail, and supports a full alpha channel for transparency. It is normally used for logos, icons, screenshots and any image with sharp edges or transparency. Lossless compression means photographs come out considerably larger than the same image as JPEG.
About WebP
WebP is a web image format that supports both lossy and lossless compression as well as transparency. It is normally used for images on modern websites, where smaller files mean faster pages. Older software and some print workflows still do not open WebP.
What happens to your file
Your file is uploaded to FilesMagic's own conversion servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and converted there in a temporary workspace, which is removed once processing completes. We do not keep copies, and we do not log file names or file contents.
