PNG keeps all of its detail, and WebP does not, so the conversion discards some. For photographs the difference is usually hard to see; for sharp edges, text or line art it can be visible.
How big a file can I convert?
Files can be up to 25 MB. That is generous for this format - if a file is larger than that it is usually because of embedded images, and compressing those before converting normally brings it well under the limit.
