Convert PDF to JPEG

PDF fixes a document's layout so it looks the same wherever it is opened, which is why it is the usual format for anything final. Converting it to JPEG gives you a file suited to photographs, camera output and images on the web.

About PDF

PDF fixes a document's layout so it looks the same wherever it is opened, which is why it is the usual format for anything final. It is normally used for contracts, invoices, reports, forms and anything meant to be printed or archived. A PDF is designed to be read rather than edited, so changing the text after the fact is awkward.

About JPEG

JPEG compresses photographs by discarding detail the eye is least likely to notice, which makes photo files small. It is normally used for photographs, camera output and images on the web. It cannot store transparency, and every re-save discards a little more detail.

What to expect

  • A single-page PDF returns one image; a multi-page PDF returns a ZIP with one image per page.
  • Up to 50 pages.
  • Password-protected PDFs are not supported.

What happens to your file

Your file is uploaded to FilesMagic's own conversion servers over an encrypted connection, converted there, and deleted as soon as the download has been sent. We do not keep copies, and we do not log file names or file contents.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

Yes. Converting this format needs software that cannot run in a browser, so the file is uploaded to FilesMagic's own servers, converted, and deleted once your download has been sent.

Does converting PDF to JPEG reduce quality?

PDF keeps all of its detail, and JPEG does not, so the conversion discards some. For photographs the difference is usually hard to see; for sharp edges, text or line art it can be visible.

How big a file can I convert?

Files can be up to 25 MB, and documents of up to 50 pages. The page limit matters more than the file size here, because every page has to be rendered as its own image.

Why did I get a ZIP file?

Each page becomes a separate JPEG image. One page comes back as a single image; more than one comes back as a ZIP containing them all, numbered in page order.
