About XLSX
XLSX is the modern Excel format, storing sheets, formulas and formatting as XML inside a ZIP archive. It is normally used for budgets, data tables, trackers and financial models. A spreadsheet has no fixed page size, so how it divides into pages is decided by its print settings rather than the data.
About PDF
PDF fixes a document's layout so it looks the same wherever it is opened, which is why it is the usual format for anything final. It is normally used for contracts, invoices, reports, forms and anything meant to be printed or archived. A PDF is designed to be read rather than edited, so changing the text after the fact is awkward.
What to expect
- Spreadsheets export using their print layout; columns narrower than their contents are clipped, exactly as they would print.
What happens to your file
Your file is uploaded to FilesMagic's own conversion servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and converted there in a temporary workspace, which is removed once processing completes. We do not keep copies, and we do not log file names or file contents.
